Day at the Boys Orphanage

After a busy day meeting with both Japanese and French medical officers, our family practice doctor and I headed to the Boys Orphanage with the Chaplain to play basketball and soccer with the kids. Their kitchen and school was in the barn looking facility seen in the top picture while over 25 boys lived and slept in the orphanage seen immediately below. Our doc, an avid soccer player, kept the boys busy on the soccer field while I tried my best to keep up with the boys on the basketball court. The boys spoke some broken English. The boy in the orange kept wanting us to defend him yelling, "come on, come on". He was small in statue, but had a big heart. And like in the United States, the kids high fived us when we made our baskets and yelled, "Good Shot". Everyone had a good time.
