Farewell to this fabulous crater as we prepare to Ngorongoro Serena Lodge and drive to Arusha to fly to the Island of Zanzibar.

We encountered numerous Impala herds. Each breeding herd is shepherded by one dominant male. If the dominant male loses a challenge from a bachelor, he forfeits his territory and joins a bachelor herd. Only males with a territory get to breed. So the bachelor herds have the social dynamic of a Star Trek convention.
